Red Taxi

The Red Taxi are our Friends!

Generally I’ve considered Taxi’s to be hazards on the street, along with large panel vans (Newspaper and Frito-Lay trucks) Beverage Distributors, ) (whose semi’s are either parked in corner no-parking area or just pulled over into the bike lane, postal delivery and Pace vehicles and some of the ride sharing services Delivery (UPS, Fed Ex, Peapod

Bad Drivers, Ridesharing and Pace Special Services Vehicles
(less likely to make sudden unexpected stops or manuvers, seem to be less likely to just stop in the center of the street, when I see that airport decal in the back

City and Postal vehicles who feel they don’t need to obey traffic rules and stop signs

Large Panel Snack, Newspaper Panel Trucks Beverage Distributors, large vehicles illegally parked and blocking lines of sight at intersections or standing out in street

Inexperienced unpredictable Drivers (rideshare, Pace special services and postal delivery

Delivery Vehicles (UPS, Federal Express and Peapod) stopped in the street, pulled over into bike lanes.

Among these, Taxi’s are our friends
For the most part, they are good responsible and predictable drivers

I recently encountered road rage, which I probably contributed to (I am not beyond admitting that I probably contribute to any accident)
I changed lanes, He beeped horn, I pulled along side, he was aggitated, animated, shouting through the closed window, I pulled in front of him to turn
Then he went crazy, high speed manuvers, sharp turns, sudden stops. He pulled over and came at me. Not a big guy, not a young guy, but doing the scarey-crazy thing, which was very effective.

Fortunately, a red taxicab pulled along side me, rolled down his window and said “Just Move On”. So smart, such good advice, definitely saved me from doing something stupid (I am grateful, and maybe learned something)

As I pulled away, I looked over my shoulder and said “Having a Bad Day?” and he spat-out and some reply about how I could have caused him to hit someone.

The more I think about

Red Taxi’s are our friends
Random acts of Kindness

I Learned, not to elevate the situation
Let them beep their horns
Do not encounter or elevate

Be willing to show some humor
Be More Careful
Don’t do anything Stupic

window, I am on notice.
