Then I heard the familiar melody of a French song Si j’avais un marteau, aka “If I had a hammer” and recognized the si (if) clause

Conditional Perfect Tense – If I had a hammer
and
Conditional Tense – I would hammer in the morning

Si j’avais un marteau (If I had a hammer)
Je cognerais le jour (I would knock the day)
ce serait le bonheur (that would be happiness)
